Man charged with Rape in Stockport

SHERIFF’S OFFICE ARRESTS CONNECTICUT MAN FOR RAPE

Stockport, NY- Sheriff David P. Bartlett reports that 28 year old Timothy J. Humphrey Jr. of 161 Cedar Road, Sharon, Connecticut has been arrested for Rape in the Second Degree and Criminal Sexual Act in the Second Degree.

On January 5, 2020 at approximately 1:34am, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched by Columbia County 911 for a suspicious vehicle parked on Mitchell Avenue in the town of Stockport. Deputies responded to this location and observed two individuals in the car. Interviews were conducted and it was determined that the operator, Mr. Humphrey Jr., was intoxicated and that there was a child in the vehicle with him that was under the age of fifteen.

Investigators of the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Branch continued with the investigation. Through further interviews and admissions made by the defendant, it was revealed that Mr. Humphrey Jr. interacted with the child on a social media site and made arrangements to meet the child at this location in Stockport. It was also determined that there was sexual activity that took place in the vehicle.

Timothy J. Humphrey Jr. was arrested and charged with Rape in the Second Degree and Criminal Sexual Act in the Second Degree (Both Class D Felonies). Additionally, he was charged with DWI, operating with a BAC greater than .08% (Both Class U Misdemeanors), and parked in roadway (Traffic Infraction).

Mr. Humphrey was arraigned before Judge Jack Mabb in Stockport Town Court and was remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail or $30,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear back in court on January 20, 2020 at 6:30pm.
