Niverville man loses appeal on Child Porn conviction

D.A. CZAJKA ANNOUNCES APPELLATE DIVISION, THIRD DEPARTMENT,

UPHOLDS POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CONVICTION

District Attorney Paul Czajka has announced that the Appellate Division has today affirmed the guilty verdict and sentence of Christopher Urtz reached in November 2016. Urtz was convicted of possessing four (4) items of child pornography in 2014.

During the trial, the District Attorney presented critical evidence, including defendant’s screen name “I like ‘em younger.”

The Appellate Court rejected all of the defendant’s contentions on appeal, determining each of them to be without merit.

The trial was conducted by Chief Assistant District Attorney James Carlucci before the Hon. Jonathan D. Nichols, Columbia County Court Judge.

Urtz remains in custody of the New York State Department of Corrections, serving a sentence of four (4) to twelve (12) years.

New York State Police Investigator Chad Drozd, Investigator Timothy Milone and Trooper Ryan Hogan investigated this matter and arrested Urtz.

The defendant was represented by Greg Lubow, Esq. in the trial and by the Columbia County Public Defender’s Office on appeal.
