STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARATION

A State of Emergency is hereby declared for the Village of Chatham and Town of Ghent, for a period of time beginning at 10:00am on the date of September 9, 2019 and continuing in effect for a period of time of five (5) days through 12:01am on September 14, 2019.

The State of Emergency has been declared due to a water main break in the Village of Chatham. All persons affected should limit water usage to “essential use only”. All affected Agencies are authorized to act in a response to this emergency including the emergency funding process allowed by law.

As Chief Executive of this municipality, I have exercised the authority given to me under New York State Executive Law, Article 2-B, to preserve the Public Safety and hereby render all required and available assistance vital to the security, well-being, and health of the citizens of this community.

I hereby direct all departments and agencies of Columbia County, the Village of Chatham and the Town of Ghent to take whatever steps necessary to protect life and property, public infrastructure, and provide such emergency assistance deemed necessary.
