Hudson incident leads to 3 illegal handguns & $3200 in cash

Illegal/Stolen Felony Handgun Arrest

On Saturday, July 13, 2019 the Hudson City Police Department arrested 58 year old, Sandy K. Samuels of Catskill, New York on the following charges;

Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree – Class C felony (3 Counts)

Criminal Use of a Firearm 2nd Degree – Class C felony

Criminal Possession Stolen Property 4th Degree – Class E felony

At around 2:30 am on Saturday morning, the Hudson City Police Department received a Columbia County 911 call reporting that a male subject had a gun in the area of North 6th Street. The subject had allegedly pointed it at another man.

HPD arrived quickly, interviewed the victim and quickly detained the perpetrator. HPD Detectives responded to the scene for further processing and evidence collection. During their investigation three illegal handguns, ammunition, a gun holster, and over $3200.00 in cash were recovered and seized by HPD. All of the weapons were loaded. One of the handguns was reported stolen, another was reported missing/lost, and the origin of the third gun is still under investigation.

Samuels was arraigned in the City of Hudson Court by Judge Connor and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $7,500 cash or $20,000 bond. He is due back to Court on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 8:30am.
