August Events at the Kinderhook Library
Throughout the summer, kids, teens, and adults can sign up for our Summer Reading Program! For all of the reading you do throughout the summer, you can earn raffle tickets to win great prizes. Stop by the library to sign up and check out the prize baskets up for grabs!
Teddy Bear Picnic
Thursday, August 8 at 11am
Bring a stuffed animal and a blanket and join us on the library lawn for stories, songs, and a teddy graham hunt! Immediately after the program, we’ll have our drawing for the Summer Reading Program raffle prizes!
Family Paint Party
Tuesday, August 13th at 11am
Aspiring artists of all ages are welcome to gather together for a fun morning of painting!
Curious About Climate Change?
Sunday, August 18th at 2pm
Are you curious about climate change? Join us for an engaging, educational nonpartisan talk from the Citizens’ Climate Lobby, a grassroots organization with local chapters. Learn how climate change is affecting our region, and how we can ensure a just and livable future for everyone.
Two by Two Zoo
Tuesday, August 20th at 11am
Our favorite zoo, and their kangaroo, are back in town (along with their friends tortoise and rabbit)! They will be hanging around with us down at Rothermel Park for an hour of fun!
Teen SRP Finale: Glow Party!
Friday, August 23 from 7-9pm
Celebrate the end of our Summer Reading Program at our glow party! We’ll have food, games, music, and dancing, as well as blacklights, glow sticks, and more! Summer raffle prizes will be drawn as well. For ages 12+
Game of Thrones Fandom Party!
Saturday, August 24th from 6-8pm
Are you missing the world of Westeros? Because we certainly are! Join the Library staff for a grown-up fandom party celebrating all things Game of Thrones. We’ll have a GoT trivia contest, a costume contest, awesome door prizes, snacks, and a tasting of the GoT wine and beer for those ages 21 and up! No matter which house you swear allegiance to all are welcome.
Marvel Movie Double-Feature
Friday, August 30th from 3-8:30pm
Marvel fans, ASSEMBLE! We’ll end this summer with an epic double-feature and bring the Avengers back together one last time. Bring your vibranium shields and other swag and hang out with Marvel fans like you! Pizza and snacks will be served
