CGCC announces finalists for President's Position

HUDSON, N.Y. — Columbia-Greene Community College’s Board of Trustees has released the names of three finalists interviewing to be the college’s sixth President, following the retirement of President James R. Campion in July 2019, who has served for 19 years in the position.

The candidates are:

Ron Cantor, Ph.D.

Ron Cantor serves as Special Advisor to the Maine Community College System, and previously served as President of Southern Maine Community College in South Portland, Maine, from 2011 to 2018. His previous positions include Associate Vice President and Dean at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, N.Y., and Associate Dean for Liberal Arts at Jefferson Community College in Watertown, N.Y., where he also taught U.S. History.

Cantor holds a Ph.D. in cultural foundations of education/history degrees from Syracuse University, an M.Ed. in educational administration from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, and a B.S. in administration from the University of New Hampshire’s Whittemore School of Business and Economics. 

Carlee Rader Drummer, Ph.D.

Carlee Drummer is currently President of Quinebaug Valley Community College in Killingly, Conn., having previously served as the Executive Director of College Advancement and Executive Director of the Educational Foundation at Oakton Community College in Chicago, Ill., for 13 years. 

Prior to that, she was a Vice President at Lipman Hearne, a consulting firm for colleges and universities; served as Associate Vice President of Communications and Associate Professor of English at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisc., and worked for many years as Manager of Communications for The New York Public Library system and Director of Publications and Public Relations at Baruch College/The City University of New York. Drummer has also had a number of faculty appointments in English, Multicultural Studies, Women’s Studies, and Integrated Marketing Communications. 

She holds a B.A. from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, and a M.A. and Ph.D. from at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. 

Ann M. Marrott, Ed.D.

Ann Marrott has served at the SUNY Ulster for the last 28 years as director, associate dean, dean, vice president, and most recently as Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Services, from which she retired last June as Vice President Emerita. 

Her previous experience includes working for Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation in employee relations and for the New Jersey based Prudential Insurance Company of America in health promotion and disease prevention. 

Marrott holds an A.S. in Communications and Media Arts from SUNY Ulster, a B.S. in Public Communications from Syracuse University, an M.S. in Journalism and Mass Communication from Iowa State University, and an Ed.D. in Executive Leadership from St. John Fisher College.  

The C-GCC Board of Trustees selected higher-education executive search firm RH Perry & Associates to assist with the process. The Presidential Search Committee has arranged for each candidate to visit the college during the weeks of April 8 and April 15, to meet with C-GCC faculty, administration, staff. The board’s final selection will be subject to approval by the SUNY Board of Trustees.
